He who runs with wolves by Aenea-Jones He who runs with wolves by Aenea-Jones
I finished Assassin's Creed III yesterday. SO MANY FEELS :iconrlytearplz:

(Spoilers ahead)

I mean, from the very beginning I knew that Connor would kill his father. Still, it was hard ._.
I enjoyed the short time Connor and Haytham spent together, and for a while I thought maybe another end would be possible. Especially when they were infiltrating together and Haytham stated "He is my son" to the guard, and then Connors look at him.
But I liked the final scene, and how when Connor got up, Haythem got on his knees. It was paced perfectly.
I also liked how he finished off Charles Lee. Not in an action-y fashion, a simple assassination like on any victim, but how they were chasing each other, ending in both heavily wounded, then sitting on a table and Charles sharing the bottle with Connor. He accepted his defeat, and Connor had his long awaited revenge.
It felt good. But it also left me feeling kinda empty. With not only his nemesis gone, but also Achilles and his tribe, I felt... lonely.
...
NOW OFF TO THE DLC!
I still need to play through The Tyranny of King Washington, and haven't done most of the naval missions... so there's still plenty to do! So far I've spent 35 hours in the game, more than in any other AC.

My AC ranking so far:

1. Assassin's Creed
2. Assassin's Creed 3
3. AC: Revelations
4. Assassin's Creed 2
5. AC: Brotherhood

How come you didn't enjoy brotherhood too much? I really enjoyed it. I didn't like revelations that much, I got really tired of Ezio.
I loved 3 and 1 aswell though. 4 is okay, too.

I was generally not a fan of Ezio. And Brotherhood seemed more like an add-on to 2. I liked Revelations a lot more than I expected to, even if it still has Ezio. Constantinople was beautiful and I liked playing Altair again.

Me either. I didn't really like him.
And I guess it was kinda cool playing Altair. One thing I did like about Revelations was the armor, and the parachutes.

AC 3 and 4 are definitely my favorites! But Connor is my favorite assassin, but I absolutely love the Kenway family, even Haytham.  Connor was such a unique assassin, given his life beforehand.  I wish they would continue his story some more.

Great PS3, me too :D
I think the next-gen consoles are not worthy yet, especially for Blu-Ray movies and the games are not yet optimized for much better graphics ;)

Hehe :D I rarely buy games at full price though. I payed 25€ for ACIII. Although the DLCs made the overall cost as much as a new full price game ^^;
But I don't mind spending money on stuff I like, I spend more on books than on games, and haven't even read all of them yet ^^;

kudos for finishing Assassin's Creed 1 lol. I tried it after I did all the others...and I simply COULD NOT do it. Not that the story wasn't amazing in itself, but I got to know most of the important stuff from AC:Rev, that happened in AC1.... but after to have played the others, AC1 was such a drag. Both in gameplay and controls..... I managed to play 3 hours in before I realized I was never going to make it.

Maybe if it was my first game >_>
I liked 3 a lot too. What I hated most however, was that one mission where you chase Charles Lee over the pier, through a burning boat or whatever (memory a little vague here)....I tried that mission like a hundred times before I even made it, and when I FINALLY got through, I realized I would never ever be able to get a 100% synchronization on it, before I'd go insane lol

Hm, maybe. I played all the games in order. The reasons why I like AC 1 the most isn't the gameplay, although the whole assassination theme was groundbreaking (at least to me) back then. The whole game is pretty linear compared to it's successors, but I still like it the most for its plot, atmosphere, the conversations, and the characters. Due to no side-activities like in the later games, the plot and atmosphere felt a lot tighter.
Also, Altair is my favourite assassin. Of course I appreciated everything they added in the Ezio trilogy gameplay-wise, but I never really liked Ezio as a character. Altair is badass :D And I really liked his change of personality, from the cold and arrogant I-am-above-all type to the more humble, more considerate and thinking assassin. I recently rewatched all cutscenes on YouTube, and in my opinion the first game has the most depth.
I also liked the relationship between Altair and Malik, and their final conversation before Altairs last mission.
  • Malik: Fortune favor your blade, Brother.
  • Alta´r: Malik. Before I go, there's something I should say.
  • Malik: Be out with it.
  • Alta´r: I've been a fool.
  • Malik: Normally I'd make no argument, but what is this? What are you talking about?
  • Alta´r: All this time, I never told you I was sorry. Too damn proud. You lost your arm because of me, lost Kadar. You had every right to be angry.
  • Malik: I do not accept your apology.
  • Alta´r: I understand.
  • Malik: No. You don't. I do not accept your apology because you are not the same man who went with me into Solomon's Temple. And so you have nothing to apologize for.
  • Alta´r: Malik...
  • Malik: Perhaps if I had not been so envious of you, I... would not have been so careless myself. I'm just as much to blame.
  • Alta´r: Don't say such things.
  • Malik: We are one. As we share the glory of our victories, so too should we share the pain of our defeat. In this way we grow closer, we grow stronger.
  • Alta´r: Thank you, Brother.
  • Malik: Rest if you need to, Alta´r, that you might be ready for what lies ahead.

Now all the yaoi fan-art of AC1 makes sense to me, hahaha :p

Yeah I have no doubt it was a glorious game... but if you had played the games in my order, I doubt that you would feel the same way. For me, the first one in the series was number 2.... and it's still my favourite. Although, the game with the most 'feels' for me was Revelations. The music in that game had something to do with it. By far the best soundtrack of the game. Then I really liked AC3, even though things got more interesting after he met his father.... lol. I really enjoyed the hunting in that game.... and of course black flag had awesome stuff in it. hunting, fishing, underwater-swimming....oh I got the 'feels' of creepiness then because I really really fear underwater with sharks and monsterlike animals lol

Yeah, if you play the games in order, the 1 will always be your fav, although the other games have a better gameplay and all.

I start in AC2, so I just couldn't with the horrible gameplay of AC1, luckily my gf got engage with Altair, so I could see the whole games, while she was playing it XD

Kudos on finishing the III, as much as others say it's the worst of the saga, I think is a nice history, with an amazing gameplay.

I actually waited quite long before getting ACIII, first because I got tired of the series' gameplay (and the frustrating controls), and second because I read a lot of bad reviews. I must say I can't understand why. I can't see how anyone would feel it's the worst game of the franchise. Sure, controls and combat can get frustrating, but that's a problem in every AC game, and it's probably not easy to fix. The whole environment of the game is awesome. I like how they added trees as climbable objects and I enjoyed the hunting. The frontier is beautifully designed. I enjoyed just being in the game. I don't think it did anything worse than the Ezio trilogy.
Oh, and a great improvement in my opinion: You no longer stumble and fall when running into people. I always found that ridiculous. You are a total badass master parcours assassin, but oh, you hit someone - bang - on the ground.
