My pile of yet-to-read books...

It's kinda embarrassing I know... ^^;
But those are the books I bought and still need to read... unfortunately this huge pile doesn't stop me from buying new ones... ^^;
I just love books Llama Emoji-03 (Sparkles) [V1]
Often I stumble across topics I'm interested in, and then I buy books about it... I prefer having a book in my hand over researching in the internet ANY TIME. Even though books are quite costly (I bought books about medical science and history for about 50 bucks), and the internet is free. I just can't help it :D

Makes me think I'm like one of these women who obsessively buy shoes even though they can never wear them all, just that my shoes are... books. Oh well. I guess I have OCD.
I haven't counted them by the way, that would probably be... discouraging ^^; You could count the books yourself I guess if you'd wanted to know the number :)
They are from all kinds of branches, like history (post-war, Egyptian culture, medieval times, Japan), medical science, quantum physics (one of my favourite subjects), buddhism, philosophy, sociocultural/political (I guess Howard Zinns "a people's history of the United States" belongs here rather than into the history branch), and so on.
There's too much stuff on this world that interests me Llama Emoji-39 (Eager) [V2]
When I know what I want I always order from Amazon. But about once a year I walk into a bookstore (there's a nice three-story one in a city nearby), and walk out of it with at least 10 books because I want to KNOW... well what do I want to know? A lot I guess. I don't wanna die dumb and ignorant :meow:

I would like to read some more fictional literature, too, but I just can't get into contemporary authors. After "The Vintner's Luck" by Elizabeth Knox and "As Meat Loves Salt" by Maria McCann, every other stories and characters seem so... trivial :( Those two books had a very deep emotional impact on me and I can't find other stories that would touch me as much, which often leaves me empty and disappointed with most contemporary literature.
